Bob’s right about Secunia too, I have that run as memory resident, invaluable little utility which tells you right away when anything is outdated on your system and has fixes for most everything but IE 8, but I use FireFox exclusively so that doesn’t bother me, and you can run their online scanner too as well as have them send you an email when something new comes up or changes, even, for instance, when a new version of FireFox comes out.Adobe Flash Player is the high performance, lightweight, highly expressive client runtime that delivers powerful and consistent user experiences across major operating systems, browsers, mobile phones and devices. So before I install a new version, I run Adobe’s uninstall flash player utility, then do the upgrade. But Adobe products do not play nice nor cleanup after themselves very well so after an upgrade, you will sometimes find the old version in your system32/macromedia/flash folder. Secunia Software Inspector (on line or the PSI download) will find the locations on your computer of any old remnants so you can remove them. 
Sometimes they do not automatically remove themselves. The Firefox plug-in comes along with the installation these days.
If your hardware can handle it, install it.
